The EBZ Business School - University of Applied Sciences is a state-recognized, private university of applied sciences based in Bochum .

It is supported by the EBZ Foundation under the auspices of the GdW Federal Association of German Housing and Real Estate Companies and the Association of the Rhineland Westphalia Housing Industry and the Federal Association of Independent Real Estate and Housing Companies BFW.

In the 2017/2018 winter semester, 1,155 students studied at the EBZ Business School in the bachelor's degree courses in Business Administration , Real Estate and Real Estate (distance learning) and in the master's degree courses in real estate management and project development . history

The educational institution emerged from the European Education Center for the Housing and Real Estate Sector non-profit foundation (EBZ), which has been the sponsor of a vocational college since 1957.
The management academy for the housing and real estate industry, founded in 1992, initially offered further training to become a qualified housing and real estate manager (FWI). In 2002, the Bachelor of Arts (Real Estate Management and Facility Management) franchise course began in cooperation with the Gelsenkirchen University of Applied Sciences .

On December 18, 2007, the preliminary inquiry for the establishment of a private university was received by the Ministry for Innovation, Science, Research and Technology of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and was approved on January 2, 2008. On April 11, 2008, the application for accreditation of the first courses was made. This was implemented by FIBAA on September 17, 2008 for the BA Business Administration, BA Real Estate and MA Real Estate Management courses . After the application in September 2008 for state approval, this took place on October 8, 2008 as a private university of applied sciences and two months later on December 8, 2008, the start of studies in the winter semester 2008/2009.

In 2013, the educational institution was awarded the "Surprise Prize" by the specialist magazine Immobilienmanager for innovative ideas, creative business models and exemplary development.

The following courses have been accredited by the FIBAA ( Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation ) since the university opened :

  • Bachelor of Arts Business Administration (7 semesters / 180 ECTS credit points).
  • Bachelor of Arts Real Estate (7 semesters / 180 ECTS credit points).
  • Bachelor of Arts Real Estate Distance Learning (distance learning course, 7 semesters / 180 ECTS credit points).
  • Bachelor of Science Energy Management Buildings and Quarters (Industrial Engineer) (7 semesters / 180 ECTS Credit Points, in accreditation (June 2020)).
  • Master of Arts Real Estate Management (5 semesters / 120 ECTS credit points).
  • Master of Arts Real Estate Management Distance Learning (distance learning course, 5 semesters / 120 ECTS credit points).
  • Master of Science Project Development (5 semesters / 120 ECTS credit points).

All courses can be completed part-time. Various scholarships are granted for the course, some of which are offered in cooperation with employers in the region.

In the practice check of the Center for University Development 2011, the educational institution with the master's degree in Real Estate Management took first place nationwide with 44 out of 45 possible points.

Continuing education and interim degrees

In addition, various advanced training courses and interim degrees are offered:

  • Real Estate Economist (GdW) - Interim degree, which is acquired after taking an additional examination after the second semester of the BA Real Estate course.
  • Housing and real estate manager (EBZ Business School) - Interim degree, which is acquired after taking an additional exam after the fourth semester of the BA Real Estate course.
  • Compact courses on topics such as controlling, real estate valuation, personnel management, neighborhood management and housing cooperatives as further training courses.

research

The educational institution has its own research institute for basic research, the InWIS Institute for Housing, Real Estate Management, Urban and Regional Development. The application-oriented research and development is carried out by InWIS Research & Consulting GmbH, which is also a scientific institution at the EBZ Business School.

The educational institution is located in the Springorum Innovation Park and is located in a building complex that was awarded the BDA's architecture prize. The university shares a campus with the vocational college and the academy for further training of the EBZ (European training center for the housing and real estate industry).

Alumni Association

The graduate association of the educational institution and the former management academy of the housing and real estate industry is the EBZ Business School Alumni . The aim of the alumni association is to offer its members further training opportunities that go beyond training, an information and innovation network and a real estate communication platform. The association was founded in 1996 and has more than 500 members.
