The Fliedner University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf (FFH) is a young, private, state-recognized university of applied sciences in Düsseldorf - Kaiserswerth and is rooted in the educational tradition of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie . The Fliedner University of Applied Sciences arose as a logical consequence of the needs of this large institution and due to the demand of the general public for more academisation of the care sector and extracurricular education. Her name recalls the founder of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie, the first deaconess institution in Germany, Theodor Fliedner .

The FFH teaches in the fields of health and nursing science , functional areas of health care, education and training as well as social work and provides training for functions in management, consulting, teaching and academic professional practice. The courses are geared towards the current requirements of the job market and theory is coordinated with practice in all courses.

The university building is located on the historic deaconry area . In 2012 she moved into a historic building, which was supplemented by a modern extension. The University of Applied Sciences is connected to downtown Düsseldorf via the U79 tram line (“Klemensplatz” stop).

Subjects and courses

The university offers bachelor's and master's degree programs full-time and part-time, as well as in the field of nursing in cooperation with hospitals in the region as a dual degree program . All courses are recognized by the accreditation agency for courses in health and social affairs .

Structural equipment

For the 2012/2013 winter semester, the Fliedner University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf moved into a listed building on the grounds of the Kaiserswerther Diakonie. This historic building was extensively renovated for the purposes of the university and is located in the middle of the green campus. A modern extension was also opened for the 2013/2014 winter semester. In addition to the large lecture halls, the library is also located in the new building.

On the ground floor you will find the administration with the examination office, student office, rectorate, housekeeping and IT. There is also a student café with a coffee machine and a larger lounge for the students. The opening of an additional extension is planned for 2020.
