Martin Scheutz

Martin Scheutz (born November 27, 1967 in Bad Aussee ) is an Austrian historian .

Life

From 1974 to 1978 he attended the elementary school in Bad Aussee and from 1978 to 1986 the modern language branch of the Admont Abbey High School . From 1986 to 1993 he studied history and German philology (teaching degree): "A treasure hunt process in Freistadt 1728-29: Poverty, commercial magic, prayers for treasure (Christoph prayer), devil pact and everyday situation in Freistadt and the surrounding area at the beginning of the 18th century". Dipl. (Vienna 1993). From 1989 to 1992 he did the training course at the Institute for Austrian Historical Research . After his dissertation in 1996: "Everyday life and crime in the Styrian-Austrian border region: the gaming district court in the 18th century" (Vienna 1995) he became an assistant at the Institute for History in 1996 (with additional assignment to the Institute for Austrian Historical Research). From 1996 to 1997 he did community service at the Austrian Red Cross, Vienna branch. Since 1997 he has been working as an assistant at the Institute for History. After his habilitation in 2001 for modern history: "Everyday life and crime: attempts to discipline in the Styrian-Austrian border region in the 18th century", he was appointed associate professor for modern history at the University of Vienna in 2001.
