Martin Schick

Martin Schick (* 1978 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a Swiss actor, freelance choreographer and performer who lives in Berlin .

career

After training in dance at a private ballet school, he studied theater at the Bern University of the Arts . He became known with the television comedy on SF 1 "Schöni Uusichte" (Beautiful Views). This was followed by a few movies (Nordwand, Tandoori Love and others). At the same time, Schick was a guest at the Stadttheater Bern , Theater Luzern and Theater Biel-Solothurn , as well as at the Theater am Neumarkt Zürich . After that he worked almost exclusively in the field of dance and choreography, u. a. as a choreographer at the DT Göttingen and at the Saarbrücken State Theater .

Since 2007 he has been realizing his own stage plays and interventions in public space. In collaboration with Laura Kalauz, a. a. the works "TITLE" and "CMMN SNS PRJCT", a production of the Festival Freischwimmer, with which they have toured worldwide since then. Further works were created in collaboration with the visual artist Vreni Spieser, realized in Tel Aviv, Freiburg i. Ü. and Buenos Aires. In 2012 he realized his first solo production "NOT MY PIECE" at the Festival Belluard Bollwerk International (coproduction with Festival Far Nyon and Beursschouwburg Brussels). Further works: "HALFBREADTECHNIQUE" (performance at Julidans Amsterdam), "Sprachlabor Babylon" ( Sophiensaele Berlin) with the collective INTERROBANG (Till Müller Klug / Nina Tecklenburg). In 2013 he was invited to the SWISS CONTEMPORARY DANCE DAYS with NOT MY PIECE and is celebrating its premiere with a new production in collaboration with Damir Todorovic: HOLIDAY ON STAGE (co-production: BBI, Brut, The Basement, Beursschouwburg, Vooruit, Dampfzentrale, Gessnerallee). He could also be seen in the Substitut Berlin (room for current Swiss art) with a solo exhibition and in preparation for an "Institute for Applied Post-capitalism" in Freiburg i. Ü. Since January 2013 partner of the Fondation Nestlé pour l'Art and in 2014 supported by the European network WEB.
