Martin Schneider (gymnastics teacher)

Martin Schneider (born January 7, 1889 in Ellefeld , † 1946, in a Soviet internment camp) was a German gymnastics teacher and functionary.

In the time of National Socialism he held the post of Reichsmännerturnwartes of the German Gymnastics Association . Schneider was national gymnastics trainer at the 1934 World Championships in Budapest and at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin.

Life

Athletic career

Schneider was an avid gymnast from a young age. He did gymnastics at the Ellefeld gymnastics club. From 1909 to 1912 he was instructor and gymnastics instructor in the Zwota gymnastics club near Klingenthal and from 1912 to 1919 instructor and women's gymnastics instructor in the Falkenstein gymnastics club in Vogtland. In 1919 and 1920 he attended the gymnastics teacher training institute in Dresden (college for physical exercises). From 1920 to 1926 he was instructor in the gymnastics club Glauchau and from 1923 chairman of the gymnastics association Glauchau .

Functionary career

From 1912 to 1919 Schneider was 2nd Gauturnwart in the Vogtland Turngau , also Gaufrauenturnwart and Gauspielwart. From 1920 to 1928 he held the office of Gauoberturnwart in the Vogtland Turngau. From 1923 to 1926 he was the successor of Max Schwarze district male gymnast of the Saxon gymnastics association with 311,000 members, from 1926 to 1933 district gymnastics supervisor. From 1929 to 1936 he held the post of men's gymnastics supervisor in the German Gymnastics Association, and from 1936 he was Reichsmännerturnwart in the NSRL . In addition, from 1933 to 1936 Schneider was Gaufführer of the Saxon Gymnastics Association and Gaufachamtsleiter of the NSRL. In 1926 Martin Schneider came from the Realgymnasium in Glauchau as an academic gymnastics and sports teacher at the Leipzig Graduate School of Management . Since January 1, 1930 he was director of the institute for physical exercise.

The high point of his career as a functionary was the appointment by the Reich Sports Leader Hans von Tschammer as Reichsfachamtsleiter - after the death of Carl Steding in September 1941 - in the Reichsfachamt I gymnastics, gymnastics, summer games.
