Martin Thoemmes

Martin Thoemmes (born March 10, 1955 in Lübeck ; † January 19, 2017 ) was a German journalist and author .

Life

Martin Thoemmes studied philosophy and history at the Universities of Freiburg and Vienna. He was initially a lecturer at the Klett-Cotta publishing house in Stuttgart , later a scientific editor in the Office for Archaeological Monument Preservation in Lübeck and a speaker at the Baltic Sea Academy in Lübeck-Travemünde .

He was also a freelancer for FAZ and Rheinischer Merkur and a ghostwriter . In the Lübeck Society for the Promotion of Charitable Activities , he was a member of the editorial committee of the Lübeckische Blätter from 1993 to 1996 and from 2001 to 2012 .

He was particularly interested in the life and fate of the Lübeck martyrs and the Lübeck-born Catholic philosopher Hans Blumenberg .
