Martin Wendt (politician, 1935)

Martin Wendt (born March 24, 1935 in Velmede ; † September 8, 2010 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1965 to 1980 he was a member of the German Bundestag.

Life and work

After graduating from elementary school and attending grammar school, Wendt first completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter. He then attended engineering school, which he left as an engineer for civil engineering. From 1958 to 1965 he was technical inspector of the Deutsche Bundesbahn at the railway maintenance office in Bestwig , most recently as chief inspector of the federal railway.

Act

Wendt had been a member of the SPD since 1955. He was a member of the SPD district executive in Meschede and the executive committee of the SPD sub-district Sauerland. He was a council member of the Velmede municipality since 1964 and became a council member of the Bestwig municipality after the regional reform in 1975 . From 1964 to 1969 he was the deputy mayor of Bestwig. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1980. He was always drawn into parliament via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia . There he was a member of the Committee on Family and Youth Issues in his first legislative period and of the Committee on Transport and Post and Telecommunications in the remaining three periods.
