Martin Winkler (born October 30, 1980 in Lindenfels ) is a German sports journalist and television presenter .

Professional background

Studies and DSF

From 2002 to 2007 Winkler studied sports science at the German Sport University in Cologne with a focus on media and communication . During this time he worked as a freelancer in the editorial team of the youth sports magazine Bravo Sport between 2005 and 2007 . After graduating, he began a two-year internship at the German Sports Television (DSF) , where he held a reporter on site at the 2008 European Football Championship in Austria and Switzerland as well as the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Sweden was in use . On April 11, 2010, DSF was renamed Sport1 and Winkler presented the broadcasts Bundesliga aktuell and Sport1 News there .

Sky sports

With the launch of the first German 24-hour sports news channel Sky Sport News HD on December 1, 2011, Winkler switched from Sport1 to the pay TV channel Sky . Before the changeover to teams of moderators with a changing line-up, he formed a fixed moderation couple with his colleague Britta Hofmann in the early days of the news and presented sports news from all over the world. After switching to free TV on December 1, 2016, the program was to include other formats in addition to the sports news and so from then on he also moderated programs such as Deadline Day and, from 2019, the Champions Corner with the experts Andre Breitenreiter and Manuel Baum . Since 2018 he has also been employed as a field reporter in the Bundesliga at Sky Sport .

Trivia

During the Corona crisis 2020, Winkler presented the # KönigFussball format on the Sky Sport Instagram page , in which he was able to video chat with Sky colleagues such as Britta Hofmann , Peter Hardenacke , Dirk Große Schlarmann , Erik Meijer , Thomas Fleischmann , Jesco von Eichmann , Wolff-Christoph Fuss or Torben Hoffmann organized a one-hour quiz on the subject of football .
