Torben Hoffmann (born October 27, 1974 in Kiel ) is a German sports reporter and former soccer player .

career

The trained police officer began his football career at TuS Schwarz-Weiß Elmschenhagen . In the 1993/94 season he played with Holstein Kiel in the third-class Oberliga Nord and was able to qualify with the team for the new Regionalliga Nord . There he was part of the Kiel squad for another year. By 1995 he played 49 games for Holstein and scored five goals.

In 1995 he moved to the then second division club VfB Lübeck . By 1997 he played 54 games for Lübeck and scored one goal. He was also used twice in the DFB Cup and scored a goal.

After the descent of VfB, he joined SC Freiburg in the summer of 1997 . In 1998 he was promoted to the Bundesliga with the Breisgauer . He stayed for another season at SC Freiburg before leaving the club in the summer of 1999. In Freiburg Hoffmann was used 53 times in the league and was able to score four goals, in the DFB Cup he made three appearances.

From July 1999 to December 2000 he was in the Bundesliga squad of Bayer 04 Leverkusen . There he played 19 times. He was also featured five times in the DFB Cup and twice in the League Cup, and he played three times in the UEFA Champions League and three times in the UEFA Cup . In 2000 he was runner-up with Bayer.

For the second half of the 2000/01 season he moved to league rivals TSV 1860 Munich . Up to the summer of 2004 he had been used 92 times and scored once. He was used six times in the DFB Cup, once he played in the UI Cup .

After the descent of the sixties , he left the club in the summer of 2004 towards Eintracht Frankfurt , which was also relegated from the Bundesliga. At the end of the season, Eintracht managed to get back up immediately. In the 2004/05 season, Hoffmann had appeared 29 times for Eintracht and scored four goals. In addition, he played three times in the DFB Cup.

Hoffmann, however, stayed in the 2nd Bundesliga and rejoined the Munich Lions . There he made 132 appearances and ten goals in the 2nd Bundesliga and twelve games in the DFB Cup by summer 2010. He played his last game for TSV 1860 on May 9, 2010 against Union Berlin . Before the game he was officially adopted after a total of nine seasons in Munich.

This was followed by the move to third division club SpVgg Unterhaching , where he signed a one-year contract, which he fulfilled as team captain.

National team

Hoffmann came to two appearances in the A2 selection of the DFB .
