Martina Merz

Martina Merz (born March 1, 1963 ) is a German mechanical engineer and has been CEO of Thyssenkrupp AG since October 1, 2019 . By Manager Magazin Merz was called "most powerful woman in the German economy."

Career

Martina Merz held various management positions at Robert Bosch GmbH from 1985 to 2002 . Part-time she studied mechanical engineering with a focus on production technology at the Stuttgart University of Cooperative Education (today Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Stuttgart ). She moved to Brose Fahrzeugteile as Executive Vice President in 2002 , but came back to Bosch in 2005. In 2012 she took over as CEO of Chassis Brakes International.

From 2015 to 2019 Merz was an independent management consultant and worked for clients at Lufthansa AG , SAF-Holland , Imerys and Volvo AB . On February 1, 2019, she was elected chairman of the supervisory board of Thyssenkrupp AG and eight months later appointed chairman of the executive board.
