Martina Proeber

Martina Proeber (born January 4, 1963 in Rostock , after marriage to Littmann ) is a former German diver who was second in the 1980 Olympics in artificial jumping for the GDR .

Martina Proeber was a specialist in jumping from the 3-meter board. In 1975 she won two medals at the Spartakiade , and in 1978 she received bronze at the European Junior Championships. In 1979 she finished third behind Beate Rothe and Martina Jäschke in the GDR championship, and in 1980 she repeated the placement behind Karin Guthke and Martina Jäschke. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, all three jumpers from the GDR reached the final. It won Irina Kalinina before Pröber and Guthke, Jäschke finished fifth. After the Olympic Games, Martina Proeber had to take a year off due to injury. In 1982 she won her only GDR championship title and finished sixth at the world championship. In 1980 she was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Martina Proeber started for SC Empor Rostock and trained with Edgar Koppe. After her career she studied medicine and received her doctorate in 1995. Dr. Martina Littmann works today in Rostock at the State Office for Health and Social Affairs of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
