Martino Aichner

Martino Aichner (born March 12, 1918 in Trento , † December 21, 1994 in Verona ) was an Italian pilot and lawyer . He took part in the Second World War as an officer in the Italian Air Force . He served in Carlo Emanuele Buscaglia's torpedo squadron . In June 1942 he sank the British destroyer HMS Bedouin south of Pantelleria with his Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 . Aichner was shot down at the same time. he received a high military award for this act. Later he wrote the book Il Gruppo Buscaglia about his war experiences .

After the war, Aichner was awarded the highest military order in Italy, the Medaglia d'oro al Valore Militare (gold medal for bravery). He received many other medals.

In 1963, Aichner founded Aersud Elicotteri, the Italian sales company for Eurocopter .
