Interior of the church

The Martinskirche Kautendorf is an Evangelical Lutheran church building in Kautendorf in Upper Franconia , a district of Döhlau .

The Martin Church was built in 1498 as a chapel of the manor of knights noble family of Kotzau . The Church has been Protestant since the Reformation . In 1733 it was significantly redesigned, the Bayreuth margraves gave their churches their own character with the margrave style. Regional specialties include the pulpit altar and a baptismal angel from the Hofer Knoll workshop , which also furnished other churches in the Hof area with works of art. The baptismal angel was originally made for the church in Berg .

In the nave towards the choir, a striking ensemble of coats of arms is attached to the ceiling. These are the coats of arms of the ancestors of the barons Friedrich Christian Wilhelm (1700–1739) and Friedrich August (1703–1769) von Kotzau and their wives. Friedrich Christian Wilhelm was married to Christiane Theres Eleonore Countess von Schönburg , Friedrich August to Christiane Eleonore Catharina von Reitzenstein .

The multi-field Hohenzollern coat of arms and the coat of arms with the fish belong to the parents of the two: Georg Albrecht , non-ruling Margrave of Brandenburg-Kulmbach (son of Georg Albrecht ) and Regina Magdalena Lutz. Below in the middle is the coat of arms of the Barons von Kotzau. The smaller coats of arms on the left belong to Schönburg and Stein to Nordheim and Ostheim (in-laws of Friedrich Christian Wilhelm) and on the right to Reitzenstein and Würtzburg (in-laws of Friedrich August).
