Georg Albrecht of Brandenburg-Kulmbach (1619–1666)
Georg Albrecht von Brandenburg-Kulmbach (born March 20, 1619 in Bayreuth , † September 27, 1666 in Bayreuth) was the founder of the Kulmbacher branch line (the Kulmbach-Bayreuth branch) of the younger line of the Franconian Hohenzollern . Two of his grandchildren came to power in the Principality of Bayreuth , but he never ruled as sovereign himself.
Georg Albrecht von Brandenburg-Kulmbach was the second son of Christian von Brandenburg-Bayreuth (1581–1655) and his wife Marie von Prussia (1579–1649). His older brother, Hereditary Prince Erdmann August , died in 1651, four years before his father's death. Georg Albrecht could not enter into the line of succession, however, because his brother, Christian Ernst, was born in 1644 as a successor. In 1655, after the death of his grandfather, he took office in the Principality of Bayreuth. After his only son Georg Wilhelm died in 1726 without male heirs, Georg Friedrich Karl, the eldest grandson of Georg Albrecht, took over the rule in the Principality of Bayreuth. When his son Friedrich also remained without male descendants, the youngest grandson of Georg Albrecht , Friedrich Christian, finally came to the government of the Principality of Bayreuth.
Founded by Georg Albrecht branch line of the Franconian Hohenzollern was sometimes as Wefer Linger line , designated as his son Christian Heinrich after Schönberger contract the Schloss Weferlingen had moved into the residence.
