history

The first documentary mention of Martinsroda was handed down on April 30, 1341. The floodplains of the rivers and streams were mostly not yet drained at that time, which is why they turned to higher-lying flat areas in order to guarantee the supply of the residents of the area and the growing cities. That was probably the reaction from the manor in Eisenberg, whose manor house is still at Steinweg 2 . The Vorwerk in Martinsroda was retained. The natural location was probably a prerequisite that interested parties could always be found under the respective social conditions and that the existence of the property was made possible. Private owners used the property and the land. In the times of the GDR, social institutions set up children's holiday camps and the land was cultivated by LPG farmers . Now the Vorwerk is privately owned again.
