1056 a church in Weert is mentioned. In 1456 the preserved Gothic choir was completed. Around 1500 the old nave was demolished in order to build today's three-aisled Gothic hall church . The consecration took place in 1512. Construction of the tower began in 1528. At the end of the 16th century work was stopped due to lack of money. The church tower was completed in 1887. This fell down in 1940 and damaged the nave. In 1960 a new spire was completed, which is similar to that of the Eusebiuskerk in Arnhem and comes from the same architect.
organ
The organ was built in 1942 by the Gebrüder Vermeulen (Weert) organ building company. While the Rückpositiv is enclosed in a (classic) organ case , the pipes are free from the main and pedal work. Behind it is the swell built into the wall. The Kegelladen instrument has 43 stops on three manuals and a pedal . The actions are electro-pneumatic.
