Martu (God)
Martu (Amurrum) is an Akkadian deity.
Amurrum was originally a deity of Western Semitic nomads . He was accepted into the Sumerian pantheon under the name Martu as the son of Anu . His wife was a mistress of the steppe , and Ašratum was sometimes seen as his wife, who is often equated with the later Ugaritic Athirat .
Martu and Amurru were not only the name of the Akkadian deity, but also of the Amurites in the Sumerian and Akkadian languages. It can be assumed that the two names are mutually dependent.
Martu is the hero of a Sumerian myth .
