Marx Reloaded is a cultural documentation that pursues the ideas of the German socialist and philosopher Karl Marx and examines their relevance for understanding the global economic and financial crisis from 2007 onwards . This crisis sparked the deepest global recession in seventy years. It prompted the US government to invest more than $ 1 trillion to keep the banking system from collapsing. But even today, the final effects of the crisis in Europe and the rest of the world are unclear.

For Marx Reloaded, writer and director Jason Barker interviewed leading Marx experts as well as critics of the current Marx renaissance. In playful animations , the viewer accompanies Karl Marx on his adventures in a matrix of his own ideas.

In the documentary, interviews are held with the following people: Norbert Bolz , Micha Brumlik , John Gray, Michael Hardt, Herfried Münkler , Antonio Negri, Nina Power, Jacques Rancière, Peter Sloterdijk, Alberto Toscano, Slavoj Žižek.
