Mary Jirmanus Saba

Mary Jirmanus Saba (* 1983 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is an American geographer and filmmaker.

Life

Mary Jirmanus Saba studied social sciences at Harvard College from 2001 to 2006 and geography at the University of California at Berkeley from 2011 to 2015 . Together with the media collective “Vientos del Sur in Ibarra” (Ecuador), she produced the weekly TV program Via Comunidad from 2006 to 2008 . In addition, she made the video documentary short film Si no llueve: Primer regreso  (2009) and was a. a. active as a film editor .

Her first full-length film Shu'our akbar min el hob (A Feeling Greater Than Love) received an invitation to the Berlinale in 2017 . There the film received the FIPRESCI jury award in the “Forum” section.
