Mary Cecelia Lacity (born May 27, 1963 in Margate City ) is an American Walton Professor of Information Systems and Director of the Blockchain Center of Excellence at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas . Her research focuses on: automation , outsourcing and blockchain.

Life

Lacity graduated from Pennsylvania State University and the University of Houston .

She was Distinguished Professor of Information Systems and International Business Fellow of the Board of Trustees at the University of Missouri – St. Louis and visiting fellow at the MIT Center for Information Systems Research . She also held visiting professorships at the London School of Economics , Washington University and Oxford University .

Career

University of Missouri-St. Louis

Mary Lacity began at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and worked there for 26 years. She began as an assistant professor at MIS, was appointed associate professor in 1998 and full professor in 2004. In 2012 she was appointed Distinguished Professor of Information Systems and International Business Fellow of the Board of Trustees. She taught courses on qualitative research methods and philosophy of science and qualitative research methods. [10]

Sam M. Walton College of Business

After her time at the University of Missouri-St. Louis moved Mary Lacity to Fayetteville , Arkansas to take on the position of Director of the Blockchain Center of Excellence. The goals of the Blockchain Center of Excellence are to develop research partnerships, promote the dissemination of knowledge about blockchain and promote the adoption of blockchain technology by industry.

Miscellaneous

She is co-editor of the Palgrave Series: Work, Technology, and Globalization, Senior Editor of the MIS Quarterly Executive and the Journal of Information Technology Teaching Cases, and on the editorial boards for the Journal of Information Technology, the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management and Strategic Outsourcing.

Mary Lacity is also an Industry Advisor for Symphony Ventures and a member of the IAOP Outsourcing Hall of Fame.

She received the World Outsourcing Achievement Award in 2000 and the Gateway to Innovation Award in 2008.

Her publications have appeared in Harvard Business Review , Sloan Management Review, MIS Quarterly, IEEE Computer, and Communications of the ACM.
