He made his mangaka debut in February 2001 with the release of the oneshot manga Two Top . In the same year he started together with Kyōichi Nanatsuki his first series of X-Genes , which brought it to three volumes.

He then created his longest series to date with the author George Abe : Rainbow - Nisha Rokubō no Shichinin . Rainbow is about six juvenile offenders and their tough times after a inhuman reformatory. The manga won the Shogakukan Manga Prize in 2005, finished in 22 volumes in 2010 and was also adapted as an anime television series in 2010 .

After the horror single band Kansen Rettō , based on the film of the same name by Takahisa Zeze , which was filmed at the same time but was only released in early 2009 , which tells of the outbreak of a deadly virus , Kakizaki began working on the manga Hideout . It is about a couple who seek rest on an island after the tragic loss of their son. However, they get lost on the island and then have to fight for survival in an abandoned cave. This was published in Germany as Dark Hideout 2014 by Egmont Manga .

In 2011, Kakizaki's first manga series called Green Blood started . The five-volume series is about an Irish brother couple who had to prove themselves in the middle of the 19th century in the Five Points , a ghetto in Manhattan terrorized by gang wars .
