The Maschinenfabrik Bröhl was founded in 1885 by Anton Bröhl in Brohl-Lützing under the name Brohler Apparate Bauanstalt . The first products were engines for inland shipping around the turn of the century . Later on, anchor winches , steering gear and cranes were built.

After the death of the founder Anton Bröhl, his grandson, the mechanical engineer Anton W. Bröhl, continued the tradition of the company as a supplier of marine ship technology with the re-establishment of the "Maschinenfabrik Bröhl" in 1955.

Since then, Maschinenfabrik Bröhl has grown into a medium-sized company with three production sites, two in Brohl-Lützing and one in Rheinbrohl , on the site of the former Hilgers shipyard . Today, BRÖHL is one of the leading suppliers of winch equipment for merchant ships , the offshore industry , special shipbuilding and complete maritime systems.

The company has been working closely with Offshore Technology Development Pte Ltd (OTD) in Singapore since 2004 .

Today the company is managed in the form of a GmbH by the two managing directors Anton W. Bröhl and Bernd Kulmus.

Products

Bröhl supplies anchor and mooring winches for general shipbuilding worldwide , special winches for dredgers and anchor mooring systems for the offshore industry. As a supplier of ship shipyards manufactures Bröhl ship lifts and associated transport systems. All products are manufactured according to customer requirements and designed in cooperation with classification societies such as Germanischer Lloyd , Det Norske Veritas , and Lloyd's Register of Shipping . Around 90 percent of the products are exported; 120 engineers and skilled workers are employed in the three plants.
