Masius Johann Feldmann

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Masius Johann Feldmann (born  February 9, 1762 in Wilster ; †  August 8, 1823 in Altona ) was vice rector and professor at the Christianeum Altona high school from 1794 , as well as a writer.

Life

On December 30, 1798 he married Franzisca Ohlfsen-Bregge (October 7, 1778 - January 5, 1840), daughter of the pastor Friedrich Ohlfsen-Bregge in Neukirchen, member of the corner lodge "Unity and Tolerance" in Hamburg. Masius Johann Feldmann was among other things co-author of the work: The history of France from the first founding of this monarchy to the current change in three volumes. As a member of a Masonic lodge, Feldmann was obviously also politically active. The Lodge “Unity and Tolerance” was founded in 1790 by a Jew named Israel. In contrast to other Masonic lodges, religious affiliation played no role in her. On the contrary, it was a sharp opponent of religious coercion and advocated equal rights for Jews. She tried to improve the situation of the Jews in Hamburg through practical engagement.
