Maskal (also: Maskali , French Île Maskali , Italian Isola Mascali ) is a small coral island of Djibouti in the Gulf of Tadjoura . The island is about fifteen kilometers north of the capital of Djibouti, Djibouti City , and belongs to the capital district, specifically to the Sixth Arrondissement (Arrondissement du Plateau), which coincides with the commune Ras-Dika. Together with the nearby islands of Musha (one and a half kilometers east) and Île du Large (approx. 2 km east), Maskali forms the group of Musha Islands . The elongated island forms the westernmost branch of the archipelago. The surrounding reef is separated from the main island of Musha by a deeper channel. In between there are a few other tiny reef islets.
