The Gulf of Tadjoura ( Arabic خليج تدجورا Chalīdsch Taddschūrā , DMG Ḫalīǧ Tadǧūrā , Somali Badda Tajuura ) is a gulf of the Indian Ocean in the Horn of Africa .
It is located south of the Bab al-Mandab , which forms the entrance to the Red Sea . It is 58 km long and up to 24 km wide at the entrance. The main riparian state is Djibouti , in the south the gulf borders the coast of Somalia or Somaliland . To the west of the gulf lies Ghoubbet-el-Kharab with the volcanic Devil's Islands through the bay . The Ghoubet Street is at the narrowest point only 850 meters wide, including located in the Strait island Abou Maya .
The Gulf of Tadjoura is located directly on the Afar Plain , which sometimes sinks far below sea level .
Ports on the Gulf of Tadjoura include Obock , Tadjoura, and Djibouti .
At the entrance to the gulf are the Musha Islands .
