Massiv in Mensch is a German future pop / techno project from Varel .

history

Founded Massiv in Mensch 1996 by Daniel Logemann and Mirco Osterthun. Yet at times published in the self-distribution DJ Promo former promoted Radio FFN presenter Ecki Stieg the band. The debut Schmutzendes Material (2000) was released by Wire Productions, the follow-up albums were all released by the Canadian label Artoffact Records , which in turn cooperated with the German label Endless Records and the distributor Alive . All Massiv in Mensch albums made it into the bullets of the German Alternative Charts. In January 2005, Menschdefekt entered the French Alternative Charts at number 16. With offensive shock and mullet , the group achieved scene hits. The album Clubber Lang , released in 2006, was her greatest national success to date (four weeks in the German Alternative Charts with the highest position at number 6).

The band is now completed by Thomas Rauchenecker, Marwin Voss, Tomas Appelhoff, Jonathan Millat and Muck Kemmereit.

The texts of Massiv in Mensch are often in German. In addition, one often recognizes a self-deprecating, humorous tendency and a love for the hometown of Varel . In Mensch, spoken by Ecki Stieg , says: “ Massively in Mensch from Varel, whatever that may be ”. The band is particularly popular in North America, where sales are high.

After initially more regional live presence, the band was already represented three times at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig (2000, 2005, 2012) and in 2000 at the Eurorock Festival in Belgium. Here the band played u. a. together with well-known artists such as Marc Almond , Alphaville , Oomph! or Apoptygma Berzerk . A very special live performance took place on November 6th, 2011. As part of the "Art behind bars" event, Massiv in Mensch played in the Oldenburg penal institution .

Numerous remixes for bands in the electronics scene are another trademark of Massiv in Mensch . The list includes a. Welle: Erdball , Lord of the Lost , TOY , Psyche , Contrast or the Deine Lakaien side project Helium Vola . Cooperations with other bands and artists can also often be found at Massiv in Mensch . Singer Anna-Maria Straatmann was a guest singer for Heimatærde in 2006 on their Maxi Unter der Linden . Sven Enzelmann (formerly Philtron ) lent his voice for the U2 cover version of the title Sunday, Bloody Sunday . In 2008 the title Supermassive Gravity was released as a download single and on the compilation Advanced Electronics Vol. 6 in collaboration with the Austrian band mind.in.a.box . In the calendar week 02/2009 the single reached its highest ranking in the DAC (11). The album Meanwhile back in the jungle was released on November 18, 2008. In 2009 the remix album Hands on Massiv - The Remixes was released.

On December 7th, 2010 "Nobody knows what the future will bring", a quote from the techno song "Die Kybernauten" from 1990, was released by Artoffact and Advoxya Records. On this album you can hear, among other things, the voice of the actor and voice actor Reiner Schöne . In 2012 the cover version of the Gershon Kingsley classic "Pop Corn" reached number 7 in the DAC . The single was able to stay in both the DAC and the GEWC for eight weeks.

After the album The Cortex Zero Effect , released in 2013, the band played at the Resistanz Festival in Sheffield and Stockholm.

In 2020 Massiv published “Tanzmusik 2.0” together with the Berlin formation Patenbrigade: Wolff .

The band Menschdefekt was named after the album of the same name from "Massiv in Mensch".
