Menschdefekt is a German Aggrotech band. The name of the band was derived from the album of the same name by the Lower Saxon band Massiv in Mensch and is intended to point to social and political grievances, to wake up and stimulate the audience to think.
style
Stylistically, the music moves between aggrotech , trance and futurepop . The melodies are basically concise, the mostly danceable songs move mostly in tempo ranges around 120 to 140 BPM . Another characteristic of Menschdefekt's music are the frequently used speech samples in almost all titles.
Fredrik Croona's vocals are heavily distorted, as is typical of the genre, and provided with all sorts of effects such as chorus , delay and reverb . Usually the singing varies between screeching and whispering ( guttural singing ), especially in the newer songs, clear singing is often used.
The lyrics are provocative and socially critical and deal with topics such as war , nationalism , fascism , murder and the consumer and throwaway society . Furthermore, personal feelings and experiences play a significant role in the creation of the lyrics, which were written exclusively by singer Fredrik Croona.
history
Menschdefekt was founded in 2004 as a solo project. Between 2006 and 2008 the two demos Loss of Reality and Degeneration as well as a self- released EP called Psych [a] otica were created . With two exceptions, these first three publications only contained instrumental pieces .
In cooperation with Stahlnebel vs. Black Selket created the title Stalingrad in autumn 2008 , with which Menschdefekt was able to reach a wider audience for the first time. Stalingrad was published in 2009 on the Alfa-Matrix-Sampler Endzeit Bunkertracks Act IV and mutated into an international club hit on the scene in a very short time.
In February 2009, Fredrik Croona from the former Swedish formation Something Infected joined the cast of Menschdefekt as a lyricist and singer. After six weeks in the studio, the band released the EP Projekt Tremor, limited to 25 copies, in May 2009 .
Shortly after the release of Projekt Tremor , the German label Infacted Recordings became aware of the band and signed them in August 2009. In April 2010 the official debut album The Human Parasite was released almost six months late in Europe on Infacted Recordings, in the USA on Metropolis Records and in Japan on Deathwatch Asia.
In June 2010, Menschdefekt placed their debut album at number 11 in the German Alternative Charts (DAC).
In December 2010, work on the second album Touch of Madness was completed. On August 28, 2011 singer Fredrik announced on the official band profile on Facebook, surprisingly for everyone involved, that he would be leaving the band after one last concert in Portugal. In January 2013 the band separated from the label Infacted Recordings for personal reasons.
In October 2013 Infacted Recordings announced that Menschdefekt will be working with the label again and that the second album "Touch Of Madness" will be released this year. Only a short time later, the band's official Facebook page says that Fredrik Croona has returned to Menschdefekt.
In January 2020, Menschdefekt announced that the line-up had been expanded to include a guitarist (Tandrin from Mechanical Moth and Novastorm) and that work on the third studio album had started.
The third studio album entitled Empty World will be released on June 19, 2020 .

Originally Menschdefekt was planned as a pure studio project. However, this changed with the inclusion of singer Fredrik Croona. Since he had already given concerts with a large number of other bands before joining, he wanted to bring his live experience, unlike Nik R., to Menschdefekt right from the start.
So soon a replacement for the stage presence of the band was sought who would represent Nik R. live in the future; The band found this in Daniel P., the front man of the befriended band ES23.
The first live performances with Daniel P. on the synthesizer took place in 2010. So far there have been appearances in Germany and the Netherlands, including at the Neuwerk Festival 2010 and the Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2011 in Leipzig.
At the Neuwerk Festival 2010 in Langen , Nik R. stood on stage with Fredrik Croona, contrary to his original point of view.
Side projects
Fredrik Croona plays in addition to Menschdefekt in his own band Cynical Existence and is not only responsible for the vocals but also for the music. Live keyboardist Daniel P. concentrates next to his stage activity for Menschdefekt mainly on his main band ES23, with which he is also under contract with Infacted Recordings. Nik R. is not active in any side project.
