Mastanamma (ca. 1911 - 2. December 2018 ), also known as Granny Mastanamma was known, the Indian star of a YouTube duct work entitled Country Foods. She was considered the oldest YouTuber in the world. Mastanamma died in early December 2018 at the age of about 107.

Life and youtube career

Mastanamma came from Gudiwada in the Krishna district in India, but at the time she was known she lived in the village in Guntur in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh . At birth she was given the name "Martamma". As a result, she was adopted by a family she named "Mastanamma". As a child, she refused to stay with her adoptive parents and returned to Gudiwada. She was married at the age of eleven. She gave birth to five children, four of whom died before her. Her husband passed away when Mastanamma was 22 years old. Mastanamma earned the money to support the family as a worker , mainly by carrying rice sacks.

In 2016, K. Laxman, her grandson and media expert from Hyderabad , published a video of Mastanamma preparing a meal, an eggplant curry, for the first time . This video achieved 75,000 clicks within a short period of time.

In 2017, her YouTube channel, Country Foods, had 300,000 subscribers and 52 million views. The videos were created by K Laxmann and his friend, Srinath Reddy. Mastanamma prepared well-known traditional dishes from Indian cuisine in the videos, but also unusual meals such as fried emuei . There are also episodes of Country Foods where Mastanamma prepares Western-influenced dishes, such as French fries or chicken burgers . She only used simple kitchen utensils when preparing the dishes . She peeled vegetables and potatoes with her fingers. The photos show her, regardless of her age, crouching on the floor while preparing the dishes, wearing a cotton sari . Most of the time, in the videos, she prepared the food in large metal pans on a simple oven. The channel's best-known video, titled Watermelon Chicken By My Granny, shows Mastanamma cooking a chicken in a hollowed-out watermelon . This video had 12 million views.

Because of their notoriety, visitors traveled from far and wide to visit them, including a. from Japan and Germany.
