Bruno Ninaber van Eyben is a son of the Dutch artist Antonius Cornelius "Toon" Ninaber van Eyben (1896–1977). He graduated with honors from the Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 1971 with a degree in metal design and plastic design . In the same year he opened his first design studio with Bruno Ninaber Design & Production . In 1985 he founded the n | p | k design consultancy (Ninaber / Peters / Krouwel industrial design) with Wolfram Peters and Peter Krouwel . In 1997 he reopened his Bruno Ninaber Design & Production studio with a small staff . Some of his designs are produced in Ninaber's own company, Centendo . Since 2003, Ninaber has been Professor of Design Aesthetics in the Faculty of Industrial Design at Delft University of Technology .

The objects designed by Bruno Ninaber van Eyben include a dialysis machine , an electric typewriter and a fluorescent lamp. His designs have received numerous awards and his work can be found in numerous museums for design and applied arts such as the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam , the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam , the Museum of Modern Art in New York and The New Collection in Munich .

Ninaber has designed numerous Dutch coins since 1980 . He created his modern design for the last guilder coins with the head image of Queen Beatrix in 1980; the coins were minted from 1982 to 2000. The differently arranged lines on the coins are not only applied for aesthetic reasons, but should also make it possible to make the different coins distinguishable by machines. Ninaber's most famous coin designs outside the Netherlands are the face of the first Dutch euro coins, minted since 1999 and issued from 2002 to 2013, with two different portraits of Queen Beatrix for the cent coins and for the 1 euro and 2 euro coins.

Bruno Ninaber van Eyben sees himself as an autodidact with regard to industrial design and gives as a guideline for his work Met minder kan het niet, met meer hoeft niet (German: Less is not, more is not necessary ). He is Professor Emeritus of Design Aesthetics at the Faculty of Industrial Design at Delft University of Technology and lives and works in Delft .
