Matías Rodríguez , full name Matías Nicolás Rodríguez , (born April 14, 1986 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine football player .

Career

The 1.78 meter tall midfielder Rodriguez initially played in the Boca Juniors' youth team until 2006 . That year he moved to the Barcelona Sporting Club in Ecuador. In the same year he was loaned to Universidad Católica del Ecuador by the club, which was led by club president Galo Roggiero and with whom he had signed a contract for three seasons . There it was hardly considered and was loaned to the SD Aucas in mid-2006 . The Boca Juniors are also run as a club on loan. At the beginning of January 2008 another loan station followed at the Austrian club LASK Linz . In the middle of the year Nacional Montevideo signed him. With the "Bolsos" he was Uruguayan champions of the 2008/09 season, to which he contributed with a league goal. He also played seven times (no goal) in the 2009 Copa Libertadores . In the Apertura 2009 he was used 13 times in the Primera División and scored two goals. Other sources cite 36 league appearances and only two goals scored during the period of membership in the Uruguayan team. From January 2010 to the end of January 2013 he played for CF Universidad de Chile . The statistics show 22 goals in 97 first division appearances and 13 completed games (two goals) in the Copa Chile for him during this period . He won the 2011 Copa Sudamericana with the club . He then moved to Sampdoria Genoa . There he made three appearances in Serie A across the seasons - each without a personal goal scoring - and played two Coppa Italia matches . At the beginning of July 2014, the Italians loaned him to Grêmio Porto Alegre . For the Brazilian club he ran in 25 league games ( Gaucho 1:15 games / no goal; Série A : 10/1) and scored one goal. He has also made four appearances in the Copa do Brasil . In mid-2015, he took up another engagement at Universidad de Chile. There he contributed to winning the Copa Chile 2015 with eight cup appearances (one goal) and so far (as of February 20, 2017) he has played 42 first division games (five goals) during his second station with the Chileans. He was also used twice (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2016 , twelve times (two goals) in the national cup competition 2016 and once (no goal) in the Super Cup.
