Matraca mountain
Matraca Maria Berg (born February 3, 1964 in Nashville , Tennessee ; first name is pronounced: məˈtreɪsə ) is an American country singer.
Life
Berg began writing pieces for country greats like Reba McEntire , Randy Travis , Tanya Tucker , Ray Price , Marie Osmond and Sweethearts of the Rodeo . The songs she wrote, Faking Love by TG Sheppard and Karen Brooks, and The Last One to Know by Reba McEntire were her first number one hits in the US country charts in 1983 and 1987, respectively. XXX's and OOO's (An American Girl) (1994) by Trisha Yearwood or Strawberry Wine (1996) by Deana Carter were other number-one hits for Berg.
Berg has been writing songs for himself since 1990 and is under contract with RCA Records . With two singles from her first album Lying To The Moon , Baby, Walk On and The Things You Left Undone , Matraca Berg had two top 40 hits in the C&W charts in 1990. More singles could be placed, but did not help Berg achieve a breakthrough as a soloist. Her last minor hit was Back in the Saddle in 1998 . To this day, however, Berg has released other albums at irregular intervals, most recently Love's Truck Stop in 2012.
In 2008 she was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame .
Berg is in a relationship with Jeff Hanna , member of the American folk , rock and country band Nitty Gritty Dirt Band .
