Matronae Caimineae
The Matronae Caimineae are matrons that are only attested by an inscription on a lost votive stone from Euskirchen from the Roman Empire , probably from the core time of the Rhenish matron worship of the 2nd to 3rd century.
"Matronis Caimineais"
The votive stone was found in Euskirchen in 1663, along with two other votive stones that were donated to the matrons Ratheiheis and Graticheis . All three stones were lost after they were found. Hermann Crombach recorded the find in his "History of the City of Cologne and the Surrounding Area".
Gutenbrunner interprets the epithet as a derivation from a place name, due to the traditional circumstances he considers a Germanic or Celtic assignment to be uncertainly indefinite. Günter Neumann uses the -in- element to place the name in a larger group of matronian names that have this. He also interprets the name as a derivation of a place or place name and adds it to * χaimīn- = "home, settlement" and the initial C as ch or h initial sound . With Gutenbrunner and Neumann, Theo Vennemann assumes a place name as an initial form, but differs from the hydronic root and compares it with the name of the city of Kamen .
