Matsieng , as Matsieng Royal Village (Royal Village), is a place in District Maseru in Lesotho and since its foundation in 1858 the seat of the royal family . The place is not far from the country's first mission station in Morija .
Matsieng is Sesotho and means "the place of Letsie's people".
The current (November 2019) Royal Palace is located in Matsieng ( 29 ° 37 ′ 9.6 ″ S , 27 ° 33 ′ 55.1 ″ E ) , while a new one is in the capital Maseru , about 40 kilometers north of Matsieng, is still being built. The Matsieng Royal Archives have also been located here since 2012 .
Head of Matsieng is Seeiso Bereng Seeiso, the brother of King Letsie III.
