Matt Fraction (* 1. December 1975 in Chicago Heights as Matt Fritchman ) is an American comic book writer .

Fraction broke through in 2008 with the Marvel series The Immortal Iron Fist , with which he immediately won the Eisner Award . After establishing himself with X-Men , Thor and Iron Man , he took over the Marvel series Hawkeye in 2013 and won both the Harvey Award and another nomination for the Eisner Award. Since 2014 he has published the independent series Sex Criminals , with which he received another Harvey Award.

Fraction has been married to colleague Kelly Sue DeConnick since 2002 , with whom he has two children. They met through the comic book writer Warren Ellis's internet forum. Fraction claims to have been both drug and alcoholic until he completed a successful rehab in 2006.
