Matt Lattanzi (born Matthew Vincent Lattanzi on February 1, 1959 in Portland , Oregon ) is an American actor and dancer . Lattanzi became internationally known as the husband of Olivia Newton-John .

Career

Matt Lattanzi is the oldest child of Jeanette and Charles Paul Lattanzi. His father is Italian, his mother (née Slowikowski) of Polish descent. He grew up in modest circumstances with nine younger siblings in Portland. Until 1977 he attended Benson Polytechnic High School there. After abandoning the plan to become an engineer, he trained in acting and dance at Community Collage in Portland from 1977 to 1980.

When he was 20, he moved to Los Angeles to play his first film role in the musical Xanadu . As in most of his films, his activity was limited to a supporting role in his debut film . He only played a leading role in Die Klassenfete from 1983 and in Heartpower from 1989. In addition to his film roles, Lattanzi also played briefly at the theater in Los Angeles, where he portrayed a character who considers himself to be the reincarnation of Elvis Presley's twin brothers.

After Matt Lattanzi hardly received any engagements in the early 1990s, he worked as a construction worker in California in 1992 . To be able to take on a role again, he moved to Australia in 1993 and took on an engagement in the Australian soap opera Paradise Beach for six months . After 1993 Lattanzi was no longer active in the film business.

genre

As an actor, Matt Lattanzi usually played the adolescent lover or daredevil . He has also been used as a dancer in many of his films. Lattanzi owed his numerous engagements in the early 1980s mainly to his good looks as a young man. Michael Ferguson describes the young Lattanzi in his book "Idol Worship" as follows:

"Matt Lattanzi takes male beauty to just about as far as it can go in any direction without undergoing a sex change"

" Matt Lattanzi carries masculine beauty in every direction as much as possible without undergoing sex reassignment surgery "

Lattanzi's main acting focus on the role of the (desirable) young lover was one of the reasons for his early retirement. In his mid-thirties, he received no more engagements and withdrew completely from the film business .

Private life

In 1980, while filming his first film Xanadu , Lattanzi met Olivia Newton-John, who was eleven years older than him. They were married in December 1984. On January 17, 1987, their daughter Chloe Rose Lattanzi was born. The marriage only lasted until the mid-1990s. On April 24, 1995, the couple declared their mutual separation; the divorce followed in December 1996. From June 1999 to 2007 Lattanzi was married to Cindy Jessup.
