Alexandre Gomes de Souza Luz (born July 24, 1982 in Curitiba , Paraná ) is a professional Brazilian poker player .

Personal

Gomes grew up with an older sister at times with her father in London , who was killed in a car accident when Gomes was 15 years old. In Brazil he played soccer in his childhood . After graduating from school, he began studying law at the Universidade Federal do Paraná , which he graduated in 2005. Gomes lives in Curitiba .

Poker career

Gomes has been playing on the online poker platforms PokerStars , Full Tilt Poker and partypoker under the nickname Allingomes since October 2006 . He won an event of the Spring Championship of Online Poker on PokerStars in May 2012 for a prize of more than 280,000 US dollars . In total, he earned more than $ 1.5 million in prize money from online tournament poker and was part of Team PokerStars at times . Since 2006, Gomes has also been participating in renowned live tournaments.

Gomes finished second in the main event of the World Series of Poker circuit tournament in Atlantic City in mid-December 2006 for more than $ 200,000. At the end of June 2008 he was successful for the first time in the main tournament series of the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and won a tournament of the No Limit Hold'em variant . For this he prevailed against 2,316 other players and secured a prize of around 770,000 US dollars and was the first South American ever to win a bracelet .
