The district of Quiñota is located in the province of Chumbivilcas in the Cusco region in south-central Peru . The district founded on March 17, 1962 has an area of ​​227 km². The 2017 census counted 4079 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3671, in 2007 it was 4317. The district administration is located in the 3593  m high village of Quiñota with 930 inhabitants (as of 2017). Quiñota is 16 km northwest of the provincial capital Santo Tomás .

Geographical location

The Quiñota district is located in the west of the Chumbivilcas province. The district is located in the Andean highlands . The Río Santo Tomás River flows north along the northeastern district boundary.

The Quiñota district borders on the Haquira district ( Cotabambas province ) in the west, the Colquemarca district in the northeast, and the Llusco district in the east and south .
