The Colquemarca district is located in the Chumbivilcas province in the Cusco region in south-central Peru . The district founded on June 21, 1825 has an area of 449.49 km². At the 2017 census, there were 6,897 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 9436, in 2007 it was 8656. The district administration is located in the 3575 m high town of Colquemarca with 1427 inhabitants (as of 2017).
Geographical location
The Colquemarca district is located in the north of the Chumbivilcas province, 85 km south of the regional capital Cusco . The district is located in the Andean highlands . The Río Santo Tomás River flows north along the northwestern district boundary.
The Colquemarca district borders in the southwest with the districts Llusco and Quiñota , in the west with the district Haquira ( province Cotabambas ), in the north with the district Capacmarca and in the east with the district Chamaca .
