Matthew Spencer "Matt" Roy (born April 16, 1959 in New York City , New York ) is a former American bobsleigh athlete .
Roy was active in the US bobsleigh team in the late 1980s. In the 1986/87 season he won the overall World Cup in the four-man bobsleigh and came second in the two-man bobsleigh. In 1988 he took part in the Winter Olympics in Calgary , Canada . In the two-man bobsleigh, he reached 16th place with his pusher Jim Herberich . He achieved the same placement in the four-man bobsleigh with Herberich, Brian Shimer and Scott Pladel .
Roy graduated from St. Lawrence University and worked as a real estate agent. In the early 1990s, he was elected a board member of the US Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation and held that position until 2009.
