James F. "Jim" Herberich (born March 8, 1963 in Winchester , Massachusetts ) is a former American bobsleigh athlete .

Herberich attended Phillips Academy in Andover , Massachusetts and later Harvard College . He was active in running at both venues. His best time over 200 meters was 20.78 seconds and over 400 meters 47.21 seconds. Because of this, he was appointed to the US bobsleigh team in 1987. His first participation in the Winter Olympics was in Calgary in 1988 . With Matt Roy he reached 16th place in the two-man bobsleigh. The four-man bobsleigh competition ended in the same position for him, together with his teammates Roy, Brian Shimer and Scott Pladel . At the 1994 Winter Games in Lillehammer , Norway , he was able to improve to 14th place in the two-man bobsleigh with Chip Minton . He was not represented in the four-man bobsleigh. Herberich took part in the Winter Olympics for the last time in 1998 in Nagano , Japan . The two-man bobsleigh with Robert Olesen reached 7th place. The four-man bobsleigh with Olesen, Darrin Steele and John Kasper finished 12th after four runs.

After the end of his playing career, Herberich moved from Utah back to the Boston area .
