Mattheis breaks the ice
Mattheis breaks ice is a comedy by Georg Queri from 1918. The title alludes to a peasant rule .
action
Mattheis was chosen by his father to study teaching to be the village teacher. He chose to become a teacher instead of a pastor. Actually, however, he would have preferred to be a farmer. That's why he works as a farmhand in the summer. His superiors don't like to see this because they think a teacher shouldn't screw up or fight with other fellows. The farmhand of the Gschnwenders is arrested shortly before the harvest. This year Mattheis is working at Gschwendtnerbauer during the vacancy ( summer vacation ) and falls in love with his picky granddaughter and heiress. The farmer recognizes Mattheis' ability and uses cunning to do everything well. In the end, the two find each other.
