Matthew Beard (born March 25, 1989 in London ) is a British actor .

life and career

Beard, who has three younger sisters, attended King Ecgbert School in Sheffield and then studied English and French at the University of York .

He took on his first roles in television series when he was young . He made his theatrical debut in a Westend production of Skylight by David Hare . For his performance, he received an Emerging Talent Award nomination at the London Evening Standard Awards. In 2018 he starred at Wyndham's Theater alongside Jeremy Irons and Leslie Manville in Eugene O'Neill's play A Long Day's Journey into the Night .

His acting breakthrough in film came in 2007 with the role of the teenager Blake in The Time That Left Us , who was portrayed as an adult by Colin Firth . He was nominated for a British Independent Film Award in the Best Newcomer category for his performance . Since then he has appeared in An Education , a film adaptation of Nick Hornby's novel , among others.

Beard worked as a model for the English fashion label Burberry in 2011 and for Prada in 2015 .
