Matthew Breeze

Matthew Breeze (born June 10, 1972 in Sydney ) is an Australian football referee . From 2001 to 2012 he was a FIFA referee.

Breeze has been directing games in the top Australian league since 1994; between 1994 and 2004 this was the National Soccer League , and he has been there since the A-League was founded in 2005. In 2009 and 2011 Breeze was voted the best Australian referee and was therefore allowed to whistle the respective Australian championship finals.

He has participated as a referee in the 2003 Junior World Cup , the 2005 Confederations Cup and the 2007 Asian Cup. In addition, Breeze was nominated for the Confederations Cup 2009 and was on the preliminary shortlist for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa .

Breeze lives in Carlton and works full time as a prosecutor.
