Matthew Luo Duxi
Matthew Luo Duxi (born July 2, 1919 in Renshou , Sichuan , China , † December 4, 2009 ) was the Catholic Bishop of Leshan .
Luo Duxi came from a Catholic family. He studied at the Chengdu seminary from 1946 to 1956 . Due to the political situation, a priestly ordination could not take place at first, instead he was under state administrative control from 1958 to 1972 and worked as a farmer.
In 1981, Bishop Paul Deng Jizhou , loyal to Rome , brought him back to church service and in 1983 donated him to the priesthood. In 1987 he became Vicar General of Leshan. Bishop John Chen Shizhong consecrated him on September 21, 1993 as the first bishop of the Leshan Diocese. He was accepted by the Chinese authorities and later received recognition from the Roman Curia .
