Matthias Baxmann

Matthias Baxmann (* 1957 in East Berlin ) is a German radio play author and feature writer .

Life

His mother was the actress Ruth Kommerell . Baxmann studied chemistry for two semesters before taking up a job as an archivist in the Bertolt Brecht Archive and later working as a graphic printer. After completing his studies at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin in 1987, he worked as a puppeteer until 2001 and at the same time worked as a play and theater teacher for over 10 years. Since the mid-1990s he has worked as an author, journalist and producer for the radio for ARD and Deutschlandradio, for which he wrote over 100 features, reports and radio plays. Together with Matthias Eckoldt , he created the weekly series Mensch Müller and Typisch deutsch? for Deutschlandradio Kultur with 200 episodes each. Since 2012 he has been producing the weekly long-term series Everyday Different with Eckoldt , with over 300 episodes so far for Deutschlandfunk Kultur . In these original sound features, German foreign correspondents from all continents tell about their everyday experiences abroad.

His son is the musician Gregor Heinze.
