Athletic career

As a junior player at Dynamo Dresden, Blaseck came to eight GDR junior internationals in 1970, in which he was mostly used as a full-back. Although he was nominated for the second-class second team from Dynamo Dresden for the 1971/72 season, Blaseck has already played in six league games this season. He made his debut in the top division of the GDR on December 11, 1971 in the encounter of the 10th game day Dynamo Dresden - Vorwärts Stralsund (6-0), when he was substituted on in the 77th minute. In the following three league games he played the full 90 minutes as a defensive player. For the rest of the season he only had two short appearances on the 19th and 20th matchdays. In addition, he played in two international matches for the GDR youth national team in the spring of 1972. For the 1972/73 season, Blaseck was officially included in the league team, but did not play a single league point game.

From the 1973/74 season onwards, Blaseck played for the upper division Stahl Riesa. There, Blaseck came to 66 league games within four seasons. After a cautious start in his first season with only eleven missions, he then fought for a regular place in the steel team as a right defender. In 1977 he was relegated with Stahl Riesa from the league and in the autumn of 1977 only played a league game for Riesa in the GDR league .

In November 1977 Blaseck moved to the league promoted Wismut Gera, who had conceded 22 goals in the last five games with his overburdened Libero Korn . From the 9th matchday on, Blaseck took over the libero position, but with his 15 league games he could not prevent Wismut Gera from being relegated at the end of the season with 17:75 goals and 6:46 goals as the worst team in the history of the league so far. Blaseck stayed in the GDR league with Bismut for four more years; At the end of the 1981/82 season he said goodbye to competitive sports at the age of 30.

Matthias Blaseck stayed with Gera football later on. Even after the turn of the millennium, he was active as a player and trainer for the over-35 team at VfL 1990 Gera .
