Matthias Buchholz (cook)

Matthias Buchholz (born May 19, 1967 in Remagen ) is a German chef .

Life

After training at the "Restaurant Schießhaus" in Gelnhausen , Buchholz switched to several restaurants that had been awarded a Michelin star : 1986 to "Frühsammer`s Restaurant an der Rehwiese" in Berlin, 1988 to "Schu`s Restaurant in the Schweizer Hof" in Hanover , 1989 to “Weinhaus Brückenkeller” under Hans Haas in Frankfurt and 1991 to “Andresen`s Gasthof” in Bargum.

In 1992 he went back to the "Restaurant Schießhaus" in Gelnhausen as head chef. In 1994 he moved to the “Restaurant im Logenhaus” in Berlin.

In October 1996 he went to the “first floor” restaurant under the direction of Rolf Schmidt in the Hotel Palace Berlin , where he became head chef at the beginning of 1999. Here he was awarded a Michelin star and 18 Gault Millau points .

In April 2010 he took a family break.

In August 2011 he opened the "Buchholz Gutshof Britz" in Berlin-Britz , where he offers upscale country house cuisine.

Buchholz is married to the RBB presenter Britta Elm and has a daughter.
