Matthias Czech (born May 2, 1975 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament since 2011 .

Life

After graduating from the comprehensive school in Harburg in 1994 and completing community service , Czech completed a teaching degree for elementary and middle school from 1996 to 2002 at the University of Hamburg . After his legal clerkship, he became a teacher at the Fischbek comprehensive school in 2004, which was converted into the Fischbek-Falkenberg district school in 2010. Due to a stroke he suffered in May 2015, he is dependent on a wheelchair, but continues to work full-time.

Czech joined the SPD in 1991 . He has been chairman of the Harburg-West district since 2007 and deputy chairman of the Harburg district association since 2014.

In the 2011 state elections, he ran for third place in the Süderelbe constituency and won a direct mandate because he received more votes than Brigitta Schulz , who was running for second place . In the 20th electoral term he was a member of the School Committee, the Family, Children and Youth Committee and the Public Enterprises Committee.

In the 2015 mayor election, he ran for second place in the Süderelbe constituency and won another direct mandate. In the 21st electoral term he was a member of the school committee, the family, children and youth committee and the transport committee.

In the 2020 citizenship election , he ran for first place in the Süderelbe constituency and won another direct mandate. In the 22nd electoral term he is a member of the school committee, the transport committee and the urban development committee.
