Matthias Friedrich von der Recke (* July 17, 1644 , † February 3, 1701 in Münster ) was cathedral dean in the prince-bishopric of Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Matthias Friedrich grew up as the son of Johann von der Recke (1611–1666) and his wife Mechtild Judith  von Galen zu Ermelinghof  (1616–1691) together with his siblings Wilhelm († 1675), Canon in Minden , Johann Dietrich (Drost in Werne, ∞ Sophia Elisabeth of Aschenberg to Venne), Hermann (his successor as Drost to Werne), Johanna Paulina (∞ Johann Detmar ash Berg , Official Droste in Werne) and Elisabeth (∞ Johann Heinrich of Galen ) in the ancient Westphalia noble family of the warrior on .

Career and work

After attending the Jesuit grammar school in Münster and the grammar school in Paderborn , Matthias Friedrich studied at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome from 1661 to 1663 . With papal approval, he received a cathedral priest in Münster in 1661 . On May 29, 1665 he received the minor orders and the next day he was ordained a subdeacon . After studying in Rome, he received a prebend from the Turnar in Minden in 1668 . In 1674 Matthias Friedrich was archdeacon in Stadtlohn and Südlohn. The following year he became official in Lüdinghausen. In 1683 and 1688 he ran unsuccessfully in the elections for the prince-bishop. On November 12, 1688 he was appointed cathedral dean in Münster. He is buried in the canon cemetery in Münster.
