Johann Detmar von Ascheberg (born March 4, 1649 in Drensteinfurt , † September 14, 1677 in Venne ) was the chief lord and official in Werne.

Life

Origin and family

Johann Detmar von Ascheberg was the son of Drosten Johann Kaspar von Ascheberg zu Geist und Venne (1610–1665) and his wife Elisabeth Adelheid von Schade zu Ihorst (1625–1677) of the ancient Westphalian noble family von Ascheberg . On May 6, 1673 he married Johanna Paulina Margaretha von der Recke zu Steinfurt, daughter of Johann von der Recke (1611–1666) and Mechthild Judith von Galen zu Ermelinghof (1616–1691). From the marriage the son Johann Matthias (1675–1732, Amtsdroste, real district administrator) and the daughter Anna Sophia Elisabeth, ∞ with Johann Dirk von der Recke (brother of Johanna Paulina Margaretha), emerged.

Career and work

After the death of his father on June 3, 1665, Johann Detmar received an entitlement to the office of Drosten in Werne. His uncle Franz Conrad (Canon in Minden) initially took on the duties of administrator. After entering the clergy, he received the tonsure on May 29, 1669 . In Werne he held the post of Drosten from 1673 to 1676. On May 23, 1674, he was sworn up to become a knight of the Münster . He was the master of the house of Ascheberg. His successor as Drost in Werne was Johann Dietrich von der Recke zu Steinfurt. His successor in the Drostenamt was his brother-in-law Hermann von der Recke .
